World’s best gay pride festivals

The LGTB+ pride celebrations have spread around the world since the Stonewall riots in late June 1969 in NYC. Nowadays these celebrations are held in different cities from the Middle East to South Africa. Keep reading to discover the world’s best gay pride festivals.

Tel Aviv Gay Pride

Tel Aviv Gay Pride has become one of the biggest events of the year in the city. Many visitors who come from overseas have a great time and firm up the city’s reputation as the Gay Capital of the Middle East. Last June over 250.000 revelers flood Tel Aviv for Israel’s biggest ever gay pride parade at 20th annual event.

Madrid Gay Pride

Madrid Gay Pride, is hosted at Chueca neighborhood and it’s the biggest pride in Europe. Last year, was the first time a city has ever hosted both the continent-wide EuroPride, and the global WorldPride, to celebrate its 40th birthday. Free open-air concerts, parties, artistic and cultural events, conferences, solidarity, and plenty of happenings are held all over Madrid during this time of the year. The event usually takes place during the first week in July.

Sydney Gay Pride

Sydney Gay Pride, or locally Mardi Grass, has grown to a bustling extravaganza that brings Sydney to a standstill, and shines a light on the issues affecting LGBT+ people around the world. It’s one of the largest gay pride festivals in the world, and includes a variety of events such as the Mardi Gras Parade and Party, Bondi Beach Drag Races as well as Fair Day, which attracts 70,000 people to Victoria Park. Sydney Gay Pride usually takes places by the beginning of March.

Amsterdam Gay Pride

Held in early August a little later than most Prides, you’ve no excuse for missing this diverse and colourful celebration. The parade takes place on the famous canals of the Dutch capital with each festive float literally floating along in vibrant boats – what it lacks in size it makes up for in magic. Amsterdam gay pride will exceed your expectations

Cape Town Gay Pride

Cape Town gay pride has its own style, with hot winter sun, pristine beaches and the backdrop of Sugarloaf Mountain. The event normally takes place on the last weekend in February, celebrating diversity and creating awareness for LGBT+ issues in Africa. All of Cape Town comes together to make gay pride an event to remember with events, parades and lots of parties including the legendary pool party at the Glen Hotel, one of Cape Town’s best gay hotels.
